The purpose of the position is to perform analytical and evaluative work to help ensure that medical facility customer services are provided promptly and courteously.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 08/06/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Title 38 and Hybrid Title 38 employees presently appointed under an Excepted Appointment (appointed without time limit and have at least one (1) year of continuous service) may apply for this vacancy in accordance with the VA and OPM Interchange Agreement, reference VA Handbook 5005, Part III, Appendix C. Preferred Experience: At least 1 1/2 to 2 years of experience and knowledge specific in Nephrology/Renal/Hemodialysis program and policy. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience GS 07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: collecting, compiling, and or tracking data and statistical information; typing, preparing correspondence, reports, obtaining required information from various resources; utilizing automated systems to create and modify profiles and/or settings; answering inquiries from customers managing/screening incoming and outgoing correspondence; developing, maintaining, monitoring spreadsheets, databases; performing data entry; performing other related clerical duties, etc. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Administration and Management Clerical Decision Making Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Physical Requirements: The work is usually sedentary, but it requires periods of walking, standing, bending, or climbing. Duties include but not limited to: Provide administrative and clerical functions designed to coordinate and facilitate the overall support operations of the Chief of Social work providing clinical services to Veterans. Responsible for various administrative, fiscal and supply support functions for the Specialty Team with minimal oversight from supervisor. Knowledge of planning, coordination, and execution of business functions, resources allocation, and production. Answers telephones, greet patients, take messages, and notify patients of the dialysis community placement referrals, transient status requests. Conduct outreach with Veterans, family members, and internal and external agency Social Workers and Administrative Assistants to obtain pertinent information to incorporate in the social case history as background for planning indicated services, develops initial tentative conclusions as to appropriate services and carry out services that may be authorized by Coordinator/Social Worker Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Identifies a need for and knows where or how to gather information, organizes and maintains information or information management systems. Carry out recurring assignments independently, but request assistance from the supervisor's when new or unusual work problems or when issues are encountered. Information to the client, answer factual questions, and provide explanations and interpretation of agency policies and procedures that concern the client. Plans and conducts special projects or studies to analyze, evaluate, and provide recommendations on administrative issues. Researches and analyzes straightforward problems, issues, or program requirements. Reviews information and applies standard analytical techniques and develops recommendations to improve customer service. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:30am - 4:00pm.
