Job Description:

You will serve as an ENGINEER/SCIENTSIT in the USW PLATFORMS & PAYLOAD INTEG DEPT, DIGITAL ENGINEERING DIVISION, APPLIED SCIENCES & STRUCTURAL MECH BR of NAVUNSEAWARCENDIV NEWPORT RI. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption.
FOR THE ND-05 POSTION In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-4 (GS-12/13 equivalent) pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer of scientist overseeing and leading projects to test and develop undersea weapon systems. FOR THE ND-04 POSTION In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level ND-03 (GS-9/11 equivalent) pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector as a professional engineer or scientist supporting the technical development of an undersea weapons systems Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management website: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will serve as the first line supervisor of the Applied Sciences and Structural Mechanics Branch, Code 4541.
You will support efforts of the group in conjunction with appropriate Technical Project Managers
You will oversee research, development, and test and evaluation for the development of undersea weapons systems
You will manage branch operations including planning, scheduling, and facilities.
You will provide administrivia direction to include scheduling, planning and work-load prioritization.
