Job Description:
This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Senate Office Buildings, Client Services Division, Special Functions Unit. Serves as a Material Handler Supervisor and has full responsibility for overseeing the operations in support of the SOB. The position is responsible for assigning, directing and reviewing the work of subordinates. The incumbent also performs nonsupervisory tasks in support of the unit’s mission. This position requires a valid D.C. or State driver’s license.

Supervise, assign and review the work of subordinates and coordinating work operations by solving problems related to the work performed by the unit. Also performs nonsupervisory material handler duties. (experience must be reflected in resume)
Tour of duty for this position is: Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. This is an Essential-Employee Position. The employee will be required to report to work during emergencies AND inclement weather situations. Work schedule may require some occasional mandatory overtime on holidays AND weekends. Responsibilities: Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates such as approves leave, assigns duties, directs, reviews, and develops and evaluates work performance of subordinates. Manages the organizational unit’s workload. Checks the employees work in progress and when finished. Demonstrates proper work methods and answers workers' questions regarding procedures, policies, written instructions and other directives (e.g., technical orders). Resolves complaints and grievances as delegated by higher level supervisors. Provides leadership to ensure support for equal employment opportunity (EEO) goals and requirements. Provides for employee skills enrichment through job related coaching, mentoring and training. Stores, delivers and sets up equipment and furniture in rooms used for special functions for SOB related meetings, Members and committee meetings. Submit purchase requests for necessary equipment, such as chairs, tables, easels, podiums, coat racks, etc. Responsible for submitting work orders for maintenance and repair of furniture and equipment. Operates industrial vacuum cleaners, floor polishers and other cleaning tools and equipment to vacuum rugs, clean floors, base-boards and performs other routine cleaning tasks. Loads, transports, unloads and assembles tools, parts and materials. Ensures floors are stripped, waxed, polished and buffed. Loads and unloads trash and recycling and ensures committee rooms and other areas where access is restricted to day operations are cleaned. May operate motor vehicles including a crew cab pickup, sedan, panel and flatbed truck, carryalls, jeep and station wagon which have a GVW of less than 26,000 pounds. Operates vehicles over Federal state, D.C. and County Roads in all traffic conditions. Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE. Performs other duties as assigned.
