Job Description:

This position is located at the Rosebud Service Unit in Rosebud, South Dakota. The purpose of the position is to serve as a working leader, assuring the duties assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor are carried out in an effective and efficient manner.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. WAGE GRADE STATEMENT Candidates for this position will be evaluated under the Federal Wage System (FWS) Job Grading Standards. Applicants will be rated in the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position. NOTE: Competition for Custodial Worker positions is restricted by law to persons entitled to veterans' preference as long as such applicants are available for appointment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must be physically able to perform efficiently the duties of the position. Incumbent must be able to lift, carry and move objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing over 50 pounds. Work requires continuous walking, standing and considerable arm and hand movements in controlling heavy powered equipment and in cleaning. You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Inspects work assigned and completed by staff. Assures that all safety and housekeeping rules are followed. Provides training to assigned staff on new or revised methods of safety and/or cleaning techniques. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, applies floor wax and polishes floor surfaces throughout the hospital including stairways and elevators. Maintains custodial equipment by cleaning, oiling, or adjusting machine to assure maximum use.
