Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is recruiting for Seasonal Maintenance Mechanic, WG-4749-9. This position is temporary, seasonal NTE 1039-hour appointments. The defined season is from November 2025 through May 2026.
To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Ability To Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation Repair, etc. Knowledge of Materials Technical Practices (theoretical precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT factor above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The major duties of the Maintenance Mechanic, include but are not limited to the following: Perform a variety of preventive maintenance tasks such as plumbing, electrical, painting, and other related trades required in maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, fixtures, and related property. Perform plumbing work involving maintenance and repair of a wide variety of piping, plumbing fixtures (lavatories, commodes, sink, disposals, bathtubs and shower fixtures). Makes electrical repairs by removing and replacing defective parts such as incandescent and fluorescent fixtures, receptacles, switches, pull chains, covers, ballasts, starters, sockets, door ball buttons, transformers, and other items related to the installed system. Determine materials and tools needed to perform routine maintenance and repairs to facilities, structures, equipment and related fixtures.
