Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site is recruiting for Seasonal Custodial Worker (MVO), WG-3566-04. These positions are temporary, seasonal NTE 1039-hour appointments. The defined season is from November through May. These positions are restricted to veterans preference eligibles as long as preference eligibles are available. Applications will be accepted from non-preference eligibles; however, they will be considered only when no veterans preference eligibles are available.

The major duties of the Custodial Worker (MVO) include but are not limited to the following: Performs a full range of cleaning duties in an assigned area following general instructions on the work to be done. Performs custodial/janitorial duties cleaning, sanitizing, emptying trash, and restocking public restrooms, cleaning, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and emptying trash. Washes walls using powered wall washing machines and/or by hand. Vacuums/cleans rugs, carpets, etc. using heavy vacuum cleaner. Occasionally works on ladders and scaffolds to change light bulbs, wash walls, etc. Keep shop areas clean and in order. Sweeps and wet mops floor and removes various liquid and solid wastes, spills, etc. On a regular and recurring basis operates light duty motor vehicles weighing up to 10,000 pounds (such as pick-up trucks, flatbed trucks, 5-yard dump trucks, etc.) to transport personnel, material, or equipment to work site.
