Opportunity
This is a salary plus commission-based position responsible for the financial and strategic goals and daily operations of all racquet sports activities. The primary role of the Director – Racquet Sports is to increase revenue associated with activity lessons and court rentals among our membership base, hotel guests and from guests outside the community. Included in their responsibilities is the development and facilitation of sales and marketing plans related to all racquet sports activities ranging in all skill levels and abilities. This leadership position is responsible for staff management, program development, financial administration, and ensuring high standards of member experience. A key dimension of the position is to plan for and execute department growth and future expansion. This individual must be able to maintain relationships and industry knowledge via the Wisconsin Tennis Association, United States Tennis Association and Racquet Stringers Associations. Ensure maximum and creative usage of Sports Core racquet and fitness facilities while maintaining a safe environment for play. Assist in the promotion of Pro Shop retail merchandise, group fitness classes and personal training for the benefit of the health and well-being of members and guests.
Specific Responsibilities
Work with the Dir-Fitness, DK and MGR-Guest Services, Sports Core to develop and execute financial and marketing plans to meet financial objectives. Manage expenditures to align with approved budgets. Hire, train, develop, coach and discipline Racquet Sports Professionals, Associate Racquet Sports Professionals, Assistant Tournament Coordinators. Ensure standard training programs are developed, and competency programs are implemented to ensure quality service.Serve as the public face of racquet sports at the club, providing outstanding service, engaging with members, and responding to feedback.Develop an annual activity planning calendar and execute creative programs that maximize court usage. Oversee and initiate racquet sports programs for members, hotel guests and the public. Oversee other activities calendar and programs to drive participation. Includes lessons, social events and drills for all ages. Assist with marketing efforts to meet participation goals.Establish standards for racquet sports and activities instruction and ensure that self and other professionals and assistants adhere to those standards. This includes teaching techniques, student interaction, recordkeeping and maximizing indoor and outdoor court time.Schedule, promote and execute both sanctioned and non-sanctioned tournaments for adults, high school and college players, in accordance with WTA and USTA guidelines. Keep abreast of industry trends via meeting attendance and communication with local, regional and national organizations.Serve as Sports Core ambassador for activities via local, regional and national level organizations and maintain necessary membership or recordkeeping needs. Advocate the benefits of racquet sports to all age groups. Champion year-round junior programs on a regional level by working with area high school coaches and tennis organizations. This is to be accomplished via lessons, specialty programs, clinics, drills and on/off-site tournament coaching for members and non-members alike. Maintain accurate records and data base information related to all racquet sports activity and oversee these records for other fitness activities– including lesson rosters and tournament participation. Complete all necessary reports in a timely fashion.Maintain professional and courteous relationship with fellow Sports Core Associates – specifically Reception Desk, Facility Attendants and Membership Sales/Services – to ensure frequent, accurate communication of programming, billing and accounting.Work closely with management regarding retail Pro Shop offerings, sales and promotions- including racquets, strings, grips and apparel.Work closely with maintenance on equipment needs. Ensure a high degree of safety for both indoor and outdoor racquet sport facilities. Inspect areas on a regular basis to assure quality levels are maintained. Ensure applicable WTA and USTA guidelines are followed.Proactively research and propose new programming, facility upgrades, and partnership initiatives.Develop actionable, scalable growth strategies that can be implemented as participation increases.Regularly review trends in the tennis and racquet sports industry for new opportunities.Maintain close relationships with Operations Team members and participate in both business specific and resort wide meetings and other gatherings. Remain engaged and portray the attributes required of a high-quality membership club and 5 Star resort.Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
