To qualify for the Head Platemaker Stripper, KO - 4416 - 00 , you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following SCREEN OUT/JOB ELEMENT: #1-Ability to do the work of a Head Plate Maker Stripper/Head Digital Platemaker without more than normal supervision (SCREEN OUT) to be considered eligible for the position. Examples of the typical duties oof a Head Plate Maker Stripper include: 1) Reviewing work of Offset Platemaker Stripper/Digital Prepress Journeypersons, 2) Inspecting plates for quality, page alignment, marks and registration; 3) Creating templates, proofs, punch and manipulating plates using software such as; Kodak Preps, Prinergy and Adobe Illustrator InDesign, 4) Making necessary adjustments to ensure that quality meets or exceeds quality control standards; and 5) Possessing the ability to lead or train other Platemaker Stripper/Digital Prepress journeypersons. In addition to the SCREENOUT requirements above, GPO employees competing under merit promotion procedures must meet all of the following criteria in accordance with the Federal Merit Promotion Plan, GPO Directive 615.2C (Appendix B): 1. Completed a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or possess substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacant position. 2. At least 1 year of journeyperson experience after completion of the above apprenticeship or training. 3. Served a minimum of 1 year in a career or career-conditional appointment in GPO. OR 1. A baccalaureate degree or three years of responsible experience in the printing industry equivalent to, at a minimum, the GPO journeyperson level. 2. Two years of experience in the printing industry of a scope and quality sufficient to carry out the duties of the vacant position, 1 year of which must have been at or comparable to the GS-12 level. 3. served a minimum of one year in a career or career-conditional appointment in the GPO. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
