Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Air and Marine Operations (AMO), Riverside, CA.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Instructing, training, and examining employees on duties related to those performed by a Detection Enforcement Officer such as gathering evidence and intelligence of potential criminal activity through the application of radar and/or other sensor systems. Assisting in training request to align with organizational training goals and training budget. Developing various simulation exercises to train personnel to handle complex events requiring multi-tasking and coordination and teaching sound judgement and decision-making in rapidly evolving scenarios. Ensuring classroom plans, on the job training, meet the operational requirements and standards set by policy directives, regulation and laws. In this Domain Awareness Training Specialist position you will become a key team member of Homeland Security professionals involved in protecting the American people and critical infrastructure by using an integrated and coordinated air and marine force to detect, interdict, and prevent acts of terrorism arising from the unlawful movement of people, illegal drugs, and other contraband moving toward, across, or within the borders of the United States. This position starts at a salary of $122,857.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $159,716.00 (GS-13, Step 10) Typical work assignments include: Planning classroom, on-the-job, upgrade, qualification, review, and recurring training to meet the operational requirements and the standards set by Air and Marine Operations (AMO), DHS, and other governing policy directives, regulations, and law. Assigning, coordinating and managing the training of agency personnel, national, and international partners, in querying, interpreting, and analyzing data acquired through use of the DHS Domain Awareness Network, in support of law enforcement operations and the DHS national security mission. Evaluating trainee progression through written tests, simulations, and practical skill demonstration. Developing various simulation exercises to train personnel to handle complex events requiring multitasking and coordination, and to teach sound judgement and decision-making in rapidly evolving scenarios.
