Job Description:
You will serve as a ARCHAEOLOGIST in the ENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG SYSTEMS COMMAND PAC.
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Reviewing facilities planning and construction and operations to determine archaeological resource issues; Interpreting cultural resources laws and directives (e.g., National Historic Preservation Act, National Environmental Policy Act, Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. Archaeological Resources Protection Act or other laws and/or regulations) to manage existing and proposed programs, policies, laws, and regulations; and Implementing measures to mitigate cultural resources impacts. You will serve as a subject matter expert in Hawaii and Pacific archaeology to advise customers on compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA)
You will consult with Native Hawaiian Organizations regarding disposition and preparation of Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) agreement documents.
You will develop reports, contract documents, management plans, compliance reviews, or documents pertaining to environmental conservation issues.
You will develop and maintain a historic preservation program through consultation with internal and external customers.
You will brief management on conservation program matters with departmental or organizational implications (e.g. issues with current practices or policies, regulatory compliance issues).
