Job Description:

You will serve as a Fire Protection Inspector in the Navy Fire and Emergency Services of NAS KEY WEST.
***This position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and II, Airport Firefighter, Fire Inspector I and II, Fire Instructor I, HAZMAT Awareness, HAZMAT Operations, and State and/or National Registry EMT-Basic. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or ProBoard to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications, you will be rated ineligible.*** Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Conducting fire safety training to groups; 2) Eliminating or reducing hazards where the expectancy and potential for severity is high; 3) Inspecting buildings for potential fire hazards (e.g. obstructed exits, presence of combustible materials, etc.); 4) Adapting fire protection/prevention techniques to correct conditions or hazardous situations; and 5) Responding to emergencies to conduct firefighting duties. You will provide fire prevention training for the base population.
You will locate, identify, and isolate actual or potential fire hazards and fire safety deficiencies and initiate appropriate corrective action.
You will review engineering plans and specifications for new construction, as well as, alterations and extensions of existing structures to ensure plans include appropriate fire protection requirements.
You will perform regular and periodic fire protection inspections for all areas of the installation.
