Job Description:
This position is located in Washington Headquarters Services (WHS), Human Resources Directorate (HRD), Human Capital and Business Operations Division. HRD provides HR management support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) and WHS, to include providing guidance to WHS and the Director of Administration leadership on matters such as advisory assistance on civilian/military human resources, personnel security, and voluntary campaigns management functions in direct support of the OSD.

Specialized experience is defined as: operating a variety of office equipment and software, including assistive technologies; assisting in briefing preparation or materials for use during meetings; and applying grammar, spelling, and formatting standards in preparing professional correspondence and reports. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Independently preparing, editing, and formatting a variety of highly complex documents, including reports, briefing materials, and official correspondence, using integrated tools across Microsoft Office Suite and assistive technologies. Integrating data from multiple systems (databases, spreadsheets, HR software), managing sensitive correspondence, and interpreting incoming communications to support decision-making by HR Specialists or management officials. Providing proactive support to HR staff and visually impaired employees by tracking project timelines, anticipating administrative needs, and assisting with compiling data for HR tasks. Escorting and supporting visually impaired employees at meetings, conferences, and training sessions, ensuring full access to materials and spoken content.
