ORGANIZATIONAL LOCATION: Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Indian Health Service (IHS), Southwest Region, Phoenix Area, Parker Indian Health Center, Environmental Services, Parker, AZ. This position serves as Custodial Worker Leader performs leader work requiring knowledge and application of specialized cleaning procedures within the hospital. This position reports the Custodial Worker Supervisor.

Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Screen-out Element: Ability To Lead Or Supervise-completing the following tasks: Assign work to subordinate staff, plan and distribute workload, inspect work in progress, train or instruct subordinate staff, and report to supervisor on status progress of work, initiate disciplinary actions for insubordinate behavior, initiate requests for personnel actions such as promotions and recruitment. Additional examples include: initiates or participates in review and improvement of work methods. Informs and instructs housekeeping personnel on new developments in housekeeping techniques and procedures. Physical Effort: Incumbent must be able to lift, carry and move objects weighing 40 pounds and occasionally objects weighing over 50 pounds. Work requires continuous walking, standing and considerable arm and leg movements in controlling heavy powered equipment. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Major Duties: Passes on to workers instructions received from the supervisor. Train new personnel in cleaning methods and infection control procedures. Performs specialized cleaning procedures and adheres to Infection Control Policies and Procedures. Scrubs, strips, applies floor finish, polishes floors, dusts, washes walls, windows, vacuums, shampoo rugs using heavy commercial type cleaning equipment. Operates one or more motor vehicles to transport cargo or passengers. Performs operator maintenance, such as checking fluid levels and air pressure in tires.
