Minimum Qualifications: 1. Must have demonstrated knowledge of seasonal gardening tasks, such as fertilizing, preparing seedbeds, transplanting, laying sod, aerating, pruning, trimming, and applying chemicals to plants. 2. Must be able to work under general supervision, responding to initial oral and written instructions and completing assigned tasks. Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualifications criteria above.
Works under general supervision of the supervisor or lead who assigns projects to be accomplished.
Performs seasonal gardening tasks involved with preparing planting areas, laying sod, watering, planting, transplanting, pruning and trimming plants, shrubs and trees. Maintains flowers and seeded areas to ensure attractive appearance.
Skill in applying fertilizers evenly and placing seeds and plants at proper depths. Skill in operating hand and power tools and equipment (seeders, spreaders, edger, hedge trimmers, pruning shears, and sprayers).
Ability to recognize obvious plant diseases, plant insects, and unusual or poor plant growth. Knowledge of fungicides, insecticides, and herbicides and the ability to read and follow directions in order to properly spray or dust with chemicals.
