Job Description:

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as Medical Support Assistant (MSA) in the U.S. Army Medical Command (MEDCOM) for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) at a medical treatment facility (MTF). This position is located at Fort Drum, New York.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: providing administrative and clerical support for an office that handles cases of child or partner abuse; managing sensitive information while maintaining patient confidentiality; and using automated programs and tools to accomplish administrative tasks. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Medical Administration, Business Administration or Healthcare Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
Provide clerical/administrative and automation support for FAP using multiple computer systems and technologies and Family Advocacy System of Records (FASOR) to produce a wide variety of documents.
Provide assistance in the management, evaluation, and reporting of child and intimate partner abuse cases.
Provide services to families and coordinating activities with a variety of medical, social service, and legal staff.
Create agendas and attend meeting.
Use a variety of software programs to create database files, statistical data, and rosters. Creates or edits all forms of military correspondence.
Use health care automated systems to schedule, document, record, and track clinic/patient activities.
