Job Summary: This new VP/Director level position offers a strong growth opportunity in the Aviation Group of MUFG (“GAFO”), one of the leading financial institutions in the sector. The VP/Director will originate, distribute, and execute structured financing and leasing deals for Aviation clients in the Americas. Reporting to the Head of Origination for the Americas, the VP/Director will be responsible for identifying and marketing new and existing clients to increase MUFG product penetration while prudently balancing risk with opportunity. He will also provide corporate finance advice related to capital structures and funding alternatives Key Responsibilities CLIENT DEVELOPMENT Build and manage key client relationships Be responsible and accountable for contributing to MUFG’s revenue targets and enhancing the worldwide MUFG franchise through appropriate collaboration within and across regions, meeting or exceeding budget and key financial objectives with respect to ROE, revenues, and fee income Proactively originate and lead the execution of new business opportunities in aviation finance areas through marketing activities. Anticipate, advise and meet inquiries from clients with competitive and appropriately structured solutions to access capital in all of our covered markets/products and with the goal of presenting our client base with a single source of solutions to their capital-raising needs Work effectively with product partners to cross-sell and enhance client relationships. Work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders on opportunities that conform to MUFG's business strategy and credit policies Clearly explain the risks and rewards of our products to our clients, and provide our clients with all the information they need to make an informed judgment about transactions Syndication and Placement of financial structure in coordination with Syndication Group Negotiate Term-Sheet, Credit Documentation and ensure smooth execution of each transaction LEADERSHIP & STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT Assist the Head of Origination for the Americas in setting the strategic direction and objectives in line with divisional and wider MUFG goals Identify operational bottlenecks and help build scalable solutions that drive growth and improve overall business performance Direct and educate team members to strengthen the capability and deliverability of solutions to our clients. Represent GAFO in front of internal and external stakeholders where required Work for special projects or ad-hoc assignments as required and lead Global Aviation internal initiatives. RISK MANAGEMENT Contribute to a strong risk culture Conduct Due Diligence, Credit Underwriting and Risk Management. Coordination and collaboration with Credit/Risk Teams Be accountable for ensuring compliance with all internal and external regulations, guidelines, standards and procedures to protect MUFG’s reputation and activities Proactively react to client enquiries in a risk-sensitive manner, ensuring proposed solutions that are appropriate for the client and meet the requirements of KYC within the region, while minimizing any economic and reputational risks for MUFG Conduct business in line with regulatory requirements GLOBAL COLLABORATION Develop strong internal networks and build trusted relationships to enable change, share best practices, provide support and influence behavior across MUFG both the Americas and globally Work with other GAFO regional or technical teams to deliver MUFG’s GAFO strategy Maintain and enhance good working relationships with other stakeholders to service issuer clients as well as Global Markets for Originate-to-Distribute strategy Work Experience A minimum 10 years of experience in structured and/or investment banking with significant background in aviation finance, focused on marketing/origination, due diligence and execution Track record of leading transactions from idea generation and origination to execution of mandates Existing and deep relationships with major market participants Skills - Functional/Technical Competencies B.A or B.S. Required (an advanced degree is a plus, but not required) Fluent English; Spanish or Portuguese beneficial Strong numerical skills Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, the ability to demonstrate sound judgement Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Expert communicator with demonstrable ability to lead client dialogue Personal Requirements Excellent team player with ambition to join a growing platform Results driven, with a strong sense of accountability Proactive, motivated approach Ability to manage large workloads and tight deadlines Strong personal presence, leading by example to forge productive relationships with strategic partners and build consensus across multiple organizational levels Personal alignment to MUFG Cultural Principles (Client Centric; People Focused; Listen Up, Speak Up; Innovate & Simplify; Own & Execute) The typical base pay range for this role is between $200K - $258K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
