Job Description:

The incumbent will serve as the Chief of the Podiatry Department. They will provide podiatric surgical care services to patients and provide supervisory and administrative responsibilities to maintain efficient podiatry services. This position is supervised by the Deputy Clinical Director. To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Education A Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree from a school of podiatric medicine accredited by the American Podiatric Medical Association's Council on Podiatric Medical Education (APMA) at the time the degree was obtained. License Must have passed the National Board of Podiatric Medical Examiners (NBPME) or the American Podiatric Medical Licensing Examination (APMLE). In addition, a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice podiatric medicine in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. Experience In addition to meeting the above education and licensure requirements, applicants resume must demonstrate that they have one or more full years of experience, equivalent to at least the GS-14 grade level, in the practice of podiatry in an office, clinic, or hospital. Qualifying experience may include: performing reconstructive surgery, open fracture reduction and internal fixation and surgical debridement of the foot and ankle, and skill to fabricate, modify, prescribe, fit, and evaluate lower extremity orthotic devices, casts and splints. You must meet all qualification requirements by the respective cut-off date of application review to be considered.
Serve as Chief of Podiatry responsible for the supervisory, managerial, administrative output for the service unit podiatry division. Perform diagnostic test and interpret results, conduce examinations, make diagnosis, provide podiatric medical and surgical procedures. Prescribe medication, adjust dosage or frequency. Develop standard operating procedures for podiatry, maintain Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) access, monitor division for compliance, implement improvement plans, review and audit staff for quality performance. Provide technical training, instructions, job techniques to subordinate staff, plan and assign work assignments, work schedules, improve workflow, and increase productivity.
