This vacancy is for a GS-2210-9, IT Cybersecurity Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, SFLC BUSINESS OPERATIONS DIVISION -SFLC-BOD.
Basic Requirements: This position has a requirement of at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: Master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 Full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. Examples of specialized experience include: experience, education, or training in analysis of the interrelationship of pertinent components of the system. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment. Experience scheduling the sequence of programs to be processed by computers where alternatives had to be weighed with a view to production efficiency. Specialized experience must include the following: Knowledge of comparable systems in use in other agencies and the private sector for accomplishing similar applications. Knowledge of pertinent equipment advances in order to plan and carry out evaluations of alternate equipment configurations. Knowledge of equipment characteristics; computer techniques; and high level programming languages requirements, methods and procedures. NOTE: Education can be substituted for experience at this grade level. You will serve as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist and be responsible for assisting USCG, SFLC with providing technical support to customers who need assistance utilizing client-level hardware and software in accordance with established and approved organizational process components.. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Installing and maintaining network infrastructure device operating system software (e.g., IOS, firmware) Troubleshooting system hardware and software Maintaining incident tracking and solution database Diagnosing and resolving customer reported system incidents, problems, and events Installing and configuring hardware, software, and peripheral equipment for system users in accordance with organizational standards.
