The primary purpose of this position is to process various security related documentation including requests for security investigation and clearances, perform standard and non-standard reviews of security clearance applications.
In order to qualify, you must meet the Specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Security Clerical and Assistance 0086, Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Position located here. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have one (1) year or will have one year within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NK-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Specialized experience is described as: assisting with ensuring security credential requests are processed accurately and expeditiously; helping with performing quality reviews on the data and information submitted for consistency, completeness, and accuracy within regulatory requirements; assisting with determining appropriate recommendations for unresolved or questionable problems and performs follow-up; helping to process and protect sensitive information ensuring total confidentiality. Ideal Candidate: Knowledge of basic security processes and procedures. Knowledge of a standardized security methods for access/entry control specialist operations, procedures, and terminology to perform access control work independently in a variety of fixed-post and building check assignments. Ability to learn organizational procedures sufficient to perform building checks and monitor the identification of persons entering controlled building areas. Knowledge of one or more automated databases associated with a specific security function to support office and security operations. Knowledge of general clerical and office functions and procedures, as well as the basic rules of grammar, spelling, capitalization, punctuation, and standard abbreviations. Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplish multiple ongoing tasks. Ability to communicate effectively and courteously both orally and in writing. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of basic security processes and procedures. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. Maintain control of personnel access to secure/control areas within the facility, as well, the building complex. Serves and manages access/entry control monitor for personnel entering secure rooms, vaults, facilities, IT processing rooms, or areas within the controlled areas of the building complex. Performs security check. Ensures required security check area are maintain according to Operational instructions. Check building, facilities, or areas to prevent theft or damage to government property. Provides administrative support to ensure efficient secure operations. Maintains facility access entry sign-in and sign-out logs. Enters information into records and updates log books and event logs. Provides assistance by performing a variety of technical tasks. Supports real-time post mission and data management efforts, The employee assists media and data operations to include maintaining the classified area, transmits and receives data products electronically using personal computers or workstations that are networked or linked to other computers or workstations.
