Physician Assistant Basic Requirements Master's degree in any discipline or a bachelor's degree in any discipline with one year of experience as a Physician Assistant ~AND~ Successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE) (or are you in the process to taking the exam) ~AND~ Currently hold, or will hold, a full and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or in the District of Columbia.
The Physician's Assistant Certified (PA-C) practices in Primary Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The PA-C provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The PA-C practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position. The PA-C has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position. The PA-C is licensed independent practitioner, and had a supervising physician assigned at the time of hire. Physicians' Assistants have advanced education and national certification, that provides them the knowledge to perform evidence-based care for a population of patients. Major duties and responsibilities of the position: Manages a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention using evidence-based practice. Develops and implements an individualized plan to achieve optimal population health and disease management. Demonstrates leadership and works collaboratively with Primary Care Team and other interdisciplinary team members. Order and interprets labs, tests, and diagnostic studies. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions. Initiate referrals and consults to specialty services. Provides education to patients and their families. Assesses and adjusts the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Exemplifies the ICARE core values of-Integrity, Commitment, Advocacy, Respect, and Excellence. Supervisory Controls: Refer to the facility organizational chart for the supervisory chain-of-command and physical location of this position.
