GS-08: To be eligible at the GS-8 level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-7 level. Specialized experience is defined as providing legal support assistance relating to the examination, preparation and processing of legal documents, conducting factual and legal research, preparing and managing evidence and discovery, and performing case management duties. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team as a Legal Assistant (Office Automation) Grand Jury with the United States Attorney's Office in the Western District of Missouri. Typical work assignments will include: Examining, preparing and processing a variety of technical legal documents, e.g., complaints, motions, orders, leadings, subpoenas and search warrants; Proofreading and cite checking legal briefs, memoranda, and other legal documents; Providing assistance to attorneys in trial preparation by conducting non-complex research of litigation, statutes, regulations and court cases; Assembling exhibits, affidavits, and other legal documents; Tracking filing, hearing, and trials dates, and scheduling conference and interviews; Producing a variety of written documents and materials using a wide range of office software applications; Assisting in editing and compiling data for grand jury reports and maintain a monthly calendar of grand jury activities; Maintaining files, logs, complaints, transcripts, reports and other confidential records of grand jury proceedings; and Processing cases and legal matters by applying a thorough knowledge of the principals and practices of the U.S. Attorney and extensive litigative experience. Responsibilities will increase and assignments will become more complex as your training and experience progress.
