About the Position: This position is with the Department of Defense Education Activity in the Mid-Atlantic region as a part of the West Point Schools Community. The purpose of this position is to service as secretary and principal clerk of the office for a principal, assistant principal, or both of a DoDEA school.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience GS-05: One year of specialized experience which includes: compiling data for reports, reviewing incoming and outgoing correspondence for proper distribution, maintaining calendars for organization officials. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes: developing correspondence using office automation tools, verifying time and attendance records for organization personnel, maintaining records in accordance with company policy. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
Compiles data for administrative reports.
Verifies staff availability for work related travel and school coverage.
Distributes incoming and outgoing correspondence according to company policy.
Directs calls and visitors to the appropriate party in an office setting.
Review time and attendance records for school personnel.
Uses office automation tools to develop correspondence.
Maintain calendars for school officials.
Organize school records and files according to organizational policy.
