Opportunity
A food runner is responsible for delivering the food from the kitchen to a guest in a restaurant. They are responsible for ensuring that each guest receives the correct order. A few of the main duties of a food runner are assisting the chef with calling orders in the kitchen, double checking orders, matching the food ticket to the guest, and refilling guest's drinks. They will also possess the knowledge to answer any food questions a guest may have.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests’ tables rapidly and accurately without confusion of what each guest ordered
Act as the contact point between Front of the House and Back of the House staff
Communicate food orders to chefs, paying attention to priorities and special requests (e.g.
food allergies)
Organize food tickets for the chefs
Assist the wait staff with table setting by placing appropriate tableware
Serve welcome drinks and hors d’oeuvres, upon guests’ arrival
Ensure food is served in accordance with safety standards (e.g. proper temperature)
Double check the order before it goes to a guest
Deliver food from the kitchen to the correct guest without confusion of what each guest ordered
Remove dirty dishes and utensils
Answer guests’ questions about ingredients and menu items
Inform restaurant staff about guests’ feedback or requests (e.g. when they ask for the check)
