Job Description:
This position is designed for the purpose of maintaining the system of records at the Blackfeet Community Hospital. This includes the electronic health records system, Vista Imaging, RPMS and paper record system. Position may rotate Holidays and weekends.
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): Medical Records Technician Series 0675 (opm.gov) In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-04: One (1) year of general experience is required, OR two (2) years above high school. General Experience: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills to perform the duties of this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, OR four (4) years of education above high school. GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level is required. Specialized Experience: Experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. GS-05 Specialized Experience: Reviewing medical records in a clinic or hospital setting insuring files are complete and documents are filed correctly; scanning documents into an electronic health record and preparing correspondence for fax, mail or personal pickup. GS-06 Specialized Experience: Receiving, scanning, indexing, and filing of non-electronic medical and administrative information and forms; ensuring clinical and administrative forms are scanned and integrated into the Resource and Patient Management System (RPMS); & conducting quality audits and verifying the integrity and overall quality of scanned images. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
Medical Records Technician Total Compensation | Pay (ihs.gov) Assists all providers in the completion of their health record documentation. Pulls the medical records paper chart upon request. Prepares appointment charts for those departments that still use the paper chart. Scans documents into the electronic health record using Vista Imaging. Annotates the date of death in the RPMS demographic file. Processed deceased and inactive charts and forward these records to the Federal Records Center. Processes Release of Information requests and forwards records to referral Providers in accordance with the HIPAA Privacy Rule, FOIA and the Privacy Act of 1974. Enters all ROI information into the ROI System. Assists providers in locating medical record documentation. Scans reports and other pertinent data into the Electronic Health Record. Files paper charts. Incumbent assists with Inpatient ward duties on interviewing Medicare patients and getting their signature or initials on the Medicare discharge appeal form. Gathers inpatient medical documents and bring back to the Inpatient Medical Records Technician. Maintains paper and electronic medical records in accordance with Indian Health Services, State and Local regulations. Participates in department QI activities.
