To qualify for the Head Deskperson, KI - 4401 - 00 , you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the SCREENOUT (Screen Out) JOB ELEMENT 1: Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision to include: 1) Advising supervisors on the distribution of work (job jackets) to keyboard operators according to job priorities and workflow; 2)Reviewing the work of keyboard operators; 3)Processing initial copies of the Congressional Record, Federal Register and other necessary work. 4) Making necessary adjustments to ensure that quality meets or exceeds quality control standards; and 5) Possessing the ability to lead or train Prepress journeypersons. In addition to the above SCREENOUT: GPO Employees must have completed the following: GPO employees competing under merit promotion procedures must meet all of the following criteria in accordance with Federal Merit Promotion Plan, GPO Instruction 615.2C (Appendix B ): (1) completed a formal, recognized apprenticeship or GPO journeyperson training program, or possess substantially equivalent practical experience in the trade of the vacant position. (2) at least 1 year of journeyperson experience subsequent to completion of the above apprenticeship or training. (3) served a minimum of 1 year in a career or career-conditional appointment in the GPO. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement (08/29/2025) to be considered.
Reviews the work of keyboard operators.
Processes initial copies of the Congressional Record, Federal Register and other necessary work.
Maintains and operates take-out desks.
Ensures all manuscript material is formatted in accordance with pre-established standards.
Assigns collating, stamping, or logging-in of work to available clerical employees.
