Customer Service - experience maintaining relationships with customers, assessing current information technology needs of customers, and developing or identifying information technology products and services that are tailored to meet customer needs. Oral Communication - briefing mid-level management and IT staff on the status of information technology systems, projects, or daily operations, including the communication of technical information to a non-technical audience. Problem Solving - identifying alternatives to address complex information technology-related issues by gathering and applying information from a variety of sources that provide a number of potential solutions. In Addition to the Basic Requirement above: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-12) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. Specialized Experience is defined as: Providing expertise and technical guidance on the design, programming, implementation, and maintenance of data management systems; experience with Integrated Database Management System (IDMS); and applying complex IT principles and practices to the Database Design and Database Architecture process. Technical authority on data management system development and administration.
Provides guidance and technical support regarding the requirements analysis, design, programming, testing, and implementation of existing and proposed data management systems.
Monitors data performance, file organization and structure, file management, mass storage management, backup and recovery of data, and data systems security.
Ensures compatibility of operating systems in accordance with specific data systems and data applications requirements.
Recommends development and deployment of appropriate platforms, methodologies, and strategies, and monitors data operations on the database to ensure continuous availability.
Researches specific IT topics to evaluate alternatives, and ingrates and uses the respective IT knowledge in the formulation of plans that meet operational objectives.
