This vacancy is for a GS - 1701 - 9, Assistant Child Development Center Director located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, BASE KODIAK CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER -PMCDC.
Basic Requirements: This position has a positive Education Requirement in addition to at least one year of Specialized Experience or substitution of education for experience or combination (if applicable) in order to be found minimally qualified. You MUST meet the following requirements: EDUCATION: Degree: that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. or Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described in A above. AND To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Assisting in managing the operation of a child care center Developing and implementing programs for center-based childcare services Assisting in the preparation of an annual budget and funding request Ensuring daily inspections are made to assure compliance with health, safety, fire, facility, and program requirement OR 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree. You will serve as a Assistant Child Development Center Director and be responsible for all aspects of the Base Kodiak Child Development Center operation, including management and supervision of all CDC staff. The incumbent serves as the primary point of contact and local subject matter expert for all Active-Duty Coast Guard members and their family members requesting Family Child Care (FCC) home certification, seeking quality childcare services and school related resources and information. The incumbent will be expected to provide direct services as well as resource and referral information. On a daily basis, this position is the first line supervisor for childcare assistants, who are either full time, part time or on-call intermittent classifications. The incumbent is a mandatory reporter of suspected incidences of child abuse and neglect. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Planning and developing programs/projects to meet the educational needs with accredited education activities Assisting with preparing an annual budget and funding request for the CDC including both Non-appropriated and Appropriated fund budgets. Initiating and tracking to completion, requests for building maintenance, initiating purchases, and recommending/approving food and equipment purchases. Assisting in preparing the staff, center, program and parents for the accreditation with the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Planning and organizing a program of family childcare (FCC) to reduce risk to children enrolled in USCG certified FCC homes. Supervising personnel including childcare assistants. Mandatory training is required which must be successfully completed and other training may occur as necessary for success in the position. Incumbent must obtain First Aid and Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification within 60-days of hire.
