About the Position: This position is with the Joint Munitions Command located at McAlester Oklahoma. This position will serve as a Survey Technician planning, directing and conducting various survey assignments, assists higher- graded technicians and engineers on projects and providing survey information to internal divisions and external agencies. Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which include Perform topographic and hydrographic surveys for mapping and site studies; Apply GPS geodetic survey data to establish both horizontal and vertical control points; Perform stakeout points for projects sites; and Setting up the operation of survey equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/ level position in the federal service (GS-08). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualifications requirement using experience alone-no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Time in Grade Requirement GS-09: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade GS-08 (or equivalent).
Determine scales, line sizes, or colors to be used for hard copies of computerized maps, using plotters.
Deploy, maintains, calibrates, and troubleshoots all equipment and software used.
Set out and recover stakes, marks, or other monumentation.
Utilize drawing and design software for survey, mapping, and documentation.
Provide assistance and drafting support to engineers and other higher-graded technicians.
