This vacancy is for a GS-0301-9, FOIA Specialist located in the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Coast Guard, CG NVDC DATA MANAGEMENT and ADMINISTRATION DIVISION -NVDC-3 in Falling Waters, West Virginia.
To qualify at the GS-09 grade level, applicants must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the federal sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Specialized experience must include the following: Reviewing information and applying standard and analytical techniques. Developing recommendations, proposals, and prepares annual reports to agency headquarters Coordinating information and responses with appropriate staff and offices to assure consistency and conformance with program policies and viewpoints. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related NOTE: Education can be substituted for experience at this grade level (Transcripts must be submitted) National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. You will serve as a FOIA Specialist and be responsible for the research and management of Freedom of Information Act requests and the Records Management Program of records on-site and vessel documentation records at the Federal Records Centers in the United States Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: Processing Freedom of Information Act requests, sorting and preparing files. Performing duties related to Records Management, function of office automation equipment and software, report writing. Using routine statistics to present information, and interact with other employees.
