Job Description:
You will serve as a CRANE OPERATOR LEADER in the Code 740 Rigging and Equipment Operations Division of PSNS and IMF.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below. This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. You will operate cranes at all boom lengths, angles and positions during continual location changes.
You will assist supervisor with timekeeping, project manning, and checking of qualifications prior to assigned work.
You will instruct others on proper operating techniques and safety precautions to be followed.
You will independently perform assignments as directed by supervisor and pass on orders to other workers.
You will operate crane controls while producing exact movements while setting loads onto or into tight locations.
You will work in areas outside line of vision accurately operating with direction from hand signals or high-power radios.
You will monitor the mentoring of lesser skilled employees by direct contact and observation.
You will provide status reports to the supervisor on work progress or delays.
