Job Description:
You will serve as a TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST in the Logistics Directorate of NAVAL SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT ACTIVITY. This position is in the excepted service and does not confer competitive status.
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-09) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1.) participating in developing transportation plans, which requires knowledge of regulations effecting the transport and packaging of hazardous material and equipment. Experience adhering to regulations affecting the transportation and packaging of hazardous material and equipment as well as alternative transportation methods. 2.) Assisting the organization Transportation Officer (TO) and appointed representatives in the development of transportation plans to support program operational tests and evaluations. You will provide analytical support to a broad range of freight and traffic requirements affecting the operational support of a large geographically disbursed customer base with a variety of specialized needs and requirements.
You will support operational programs of the Navy, which are developmental in nature, and require the ability to plan for and acquire transportation support from a variety of military and commercial sources.
You will provide advisory services for program managers on transportation program requirements, capabilities, and procedures.
You will analyze trends in transportation operations and the impact new programs/systems have on existing operations and procedures.
