Job Description:

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. OR Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Such experience must have demonstrated: Experience in planning the layout and design of the department and determining equipment requirements. Experience in providing specialized programs and functions such as satellite feeding, medical/religious diets, and vocational training. Experience in supervising the operation of a large subsistence storeroom plus large meat and vegetable coolers and monitoring the quality and condition of the products upon delivery. Experience in developing detailed estimates and initial requests for funds required to operate the department and monitoring the expenditure of all funds. If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. **Your eligibility for consideration will be based on your responses to the questions in the application
Serves under the supervision of the Associate Warden. Responsible for the preparation and serving of all inmate meals (to include medical, religious and regular diets) on a daily basis. Helps develop, maintain, and monitor goals and objectives established to accomplish the Food Service mission of the Bureau of Prisons. Must know and understand the methods and objectives of custody and discipline as it applies to inmates and must also be familiar with Bureau and institutional policies, rules, procedures and practices. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
