To qualify for an Emergency Management Specialist, your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Analyzing operational requirements and documentation to ensure goals and objectives are met. Developing operational support programs and establishing appropriate communication channels to support mission requirements. Participating in after action development, readiness reporting and operational impact assessments. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
As an Emergency Management Specialist, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Supports planning and operations in support of Continuity of Operations Planning (COOP) and National Security/Emergency Preparedness (NS/EP).
Responsible for the maintenance of operational plans, procedures, and checklists.
Monitors operational data reporting through command and control systems in steady-state and under emergency conditions.
Analyzes operational requirements, and documentation to ensure goals and objectives are consistent with policy constraints, and overall TFSO objectives and management intent.
Serves as an Assistant Project Manager / Operational Planning Team member in developing operational support programs and establishes appropriate communication channels to support mission requirements.
Acts as an Action Officer in support of specific operations and tasks, and facilitates logistic, engineering, personnel, security, and budget tasks at the work site.
Participates in after action development, readiness reporting, and operational impact assessments.
Supports the supervisory watch officer and/or station manager on a variety of technical issues and provides essential information in order to help solve problems.
