Job Description:

Opportunity
In this role, the Sr. Engineer - Facilities, Mechanical will lead and execute
responsibilities related to the design, specification, review, and development
of mechanical infrastructure systems and equipment, for new and existing Kohler
facilities. Focus areas include building mechanical infrastructure such as
steam, cooling water, compressed air, fire protection systems, natural gas,
LPG, plumbing, wastewater, and other thermal-fluid systems supporting
manufacturing processes.
Responsibilities include
engineering studies, calculations, design specifications, project estimates,
detailed design, procurement, installation, acceptance testing, and performance
audits. Apply project management methodologies to set targets, track progress,
and report status.
May receive direction
from Principal Engineers and provide guidance to Mechanical Engineers or
interns. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors, contractors,
consultants, and engineering firms.
Specific Responsibilities
Define project scope and evaluate available options before selecting
the optimal solution.Develop project requirements, plans, and schedules.
Conduct mechanical engineering studies and calculations to support
detailed designs.
Gather design data from existing systems to verify performance and
compatibility.
Create conceptual and final designs to address deficiencies or meet
project needs from various departments.
Oversee the development of detailed engineering drawings and
specifications.
Prepare cost estimates and secure quotations.
Draft white papers and business cases (ACTs); assist other teams
with ACT preparation.
Interpret domestic and international codes and standards with local
engineering support.
Apply knowledge of NFPA codes and FM Insurance guidelines,
especially for warehousing and industrial manufacturing.
Design basic fire protection systems (e.g., systems with fewer than
20 sprinkler heads).
Issue work orders and requisitions to initiate implementation.
Monitor project progress to maintain schedules, resolve issues,
control costs, and report status.
Ensure successful performance testing, documentation, and project
acceptance.
Provide on-site mechanical engineering and project management
support at Kohler facilities worldwide (up to 25% travel).
Stay current with technological advancements to benefit Kohler Co.
and enhance personal performance.
Manage individual project budgets ranging from $100,000 to
$2,500,000.
