Who May Apply: U.S. Citizens FIND OUT MORE HERE: Teaching Categories and Requirements | DoDEA State or Territory Certification/License - A valid fully professional state teaching license in content areas or the state's equivalent (as DoDEA determines comparable to DoDEA's teacher categories) will be accepted as fulfilling all qualifications for professional teaching education and certification in content areas. To receive full reciprocity the license must be unencumbered, which means a license that is not revoked, suspended, or made probationary or conditional by the state licensing board of education. The Praxis I and II or seven years of teaching at the Prek-12 level can be substituted in lieu of an unencumbered license and will require all minimum education requirements, a student teaching/internship and full qualification standards must all be met. Applicant's claiming military spouse preference under the MSLRA will receive consideration for an encumbered license. Minimum Academic Preparation and Requirements - A baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by a regional accrediting association is required. Academic preparation of at least 40 semester hours (SH) in general education course work distributed over such fields as English, history, social studies, mathematics, fine arts, languages, science, philosophy, and psychology is required. In addition, a minimum of 18 SH of professional teacher education course work in such areas as learning process, tests and measurement, educational philosophy, psychology, social foundations, methods of teaching and curriculum applicable to the type and level of the position for which applying is required. 0363 TEACHER (CAREER PRACTICUM GRADES 6-12) Must be fully qualified in a DoDEA approved Career Technical Education (CTE) Category. Course work must include at least 3 semester hours in career counseling or career guidance.
Teacher plans, develops, and organizes long-range lesson plans and daily class work to ensure in-depth learning within the timeframe allotted to meet the course/curriculum content standards.
Selects or modifies teaching methods or materials that experience indicates will be most effective in teaching the assigned grade level(s) and subject matter; possesses a repertoire of strategies to accommodate the differentiated needs of learners.
Improves the quality of instruction based on subject matter taught; may encourage students to develop skills in research, making maximum use of available/approved education summative assessment results that inform practice.
Establishes classroom routines consistent with a healthy learning environment; communicates clear expectations for student success and behavior; integrates approved technology into instruction.
Collaborates with special education educators to meet the individualized learning requirements of each identified student; and maintains individual and class records using the school information system as appropriate.
Supports, counsels, and motivates students to meet or exceed grade-level standards,
May be required to supervise students in such venues as outside activities, lunchroom, and bus arrivals and departures, and may be assigned to serve as a sponsor, coach, or consultant of an extracurricular activity.
The Teacher must respect the privacy and sensitivities of students and parents by controlling and restricting personal information to those with a need to know.
Performs other duties as assigned.
