About the Position: This is a Health Technician (OA) position at Naval Medical Center - Camp Lejune located in North Carolina. This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.

One year of specialized experience which includes reviewing patient records; independently plans and carries out assignments to include efficient Register Nurse Pre-operative appointments and data quality management to ensure smooth daily operations; manages and coordinates clerical duties inherent to the operating room scheduling services; maintaining daily patient logs and various records; preparing reports; and utilizing automated/computer equipment (i.e. scanner, fax, copier, label maker); Schedules and de-conflicts all operative cases for surgeons within the department. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

This position manages and coordinates clerical duties inherent to the operating room scheduling services.
maintaining daily patient logs and various records; preparing reports; and utilizing automated/computer equipment (i.e. scanner, fax, copier, label maker) supportive of the orthopedics and podiatry program; and performing simple repetitive programs.
The incumbent implements policies and procedures for scheduling operations.
Ensures the clinic's strategic plan, mission, vision, and values are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's strategies, goals, objectives, operating room work plans and work products and services.
Prepares and coordinates all consultations and referral appointments to ensure and facilitate proper patient care and interacts with other physicians and clinics to avoid administrative problems or delays.
Delivers instructions to patients on when and where to appear for preoperative and postoperative appointments.
Generates data on a daily, weekly, monthly, and on demand basis to identify trends impacting on operating room and appointment availability and the efficient delivery of routine and acute operating room demands.
