This position serves as the Supply Technician for the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) within the Prosthetic Service Line, Hampton, Virginia under the Veterans Administration Mid-Atlantic Healthcare Network (VISN 6) and performs a full spectrum of supply operations.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/05/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-6 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes performing supply technician duties involving purchasing, inventory control, storage, and issue of supplies or equipment; maintaining stock and property records; conducting physical inventories; and adjusting, cataloging, or tracking prosthetic or medical supply items. Experience also includes utilizing automated supply systems such as the Prosthetic Inventory Program (PIP), Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activities and Accounting Procurement (IFCAP), or similar databases to manage stock, generate reports, and process transactions. Additional specialized experience includes monitoring and reconciling inventory discrepancies, preparing reports of excess or damaged property, ensuring compliance with supply regulations and procedures, coordinating the reutilization or disposal of prosthetic or durable medical equipment (DME), researching and resolving errors in supply transactions or automated records, and providing customer service to internal and external customers by resolving supply or equipment issues and expediting material delivery. Duties include but are not limited to: Acquires supplies through purchase, rental, lease, or small purchase orders in accordance with established procurement policies and procedures. Conducts physical inventories and maintains accurate stock and property records to ensure proper cataloging, storage, receipt, reissue, and reutilization of inventory. Monitors and adjusts stock levels using standard formulas and procedures to maintain appropriate inventory at all times. Utilizes the Prosthetic Inventory Program (PIP) to manage stock records, track inventory levels, prepare variance reports, and perform supply-related transactions including receipt, shipment, storage, issue, and adjustments. Researches and corrects automated supply transaction errors to ensure accuracy and accountability. Processes supply transactions for urgent, critical shortage, or special handling items when standard procedures are not applicable. Maintains inventory using barcode tracking equipment and monitors due-ins, back orders, and delinquent deliveries to ensure timely completion. Coordinates the reutilization or disposal of equipment from vendor or PSAS inventory, including condemned Durable Medical Equipment (DME). Provides customer service and support by issuing materials, tracking orders, and resolving supply or equipment-related issues.
