A minimum of three years' experience leading and teaching recreational activities such as mountain biking, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding, archery etc. Must have at least one year experience in developing, managing, and maintaining a recreational or similar program A degree in Recreational Management or similar is preferred and may count as two years¿ experience. Incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain certifications or training in Wilderness First Responder, Archery Level 1 and personally lead outdoor recreational activities (archery, rock climbing etc.), Must have or obtain American Red Cross First Aid, CPR/AED within first 6-months of employment. Must possess a valid state driver¿s license. Must have experience in planning and organizing programs and events. Must have a minimum of two years¿ experience in a variety of clerical duties such as typing, filing, record keeping, etc. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook (email), Windows, and navigating the web. Must have excellent oral and written communications skills. Must have excellent customer service skills and the ability to successfully plan, organize and execute events. Applicants must have the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other personnel, both inside and outside the organization. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this position is to market, develop and implement recreational activities for all active duty aboard Camp Pendleton. This person schedules and supervises large groups of active-duty units in a variety of recreational activities. This person must be able to utilize computer programs efficiently and effectively to complete administrative operations. This position reports directly to the Active Duty and Unit Recreation Department Head, Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR)-Semper Fit Division. MAJOR DUTIES: The majority of the incumbents' time will be spent planning, organizing, and leading large groups of active-duty units in recreational activities. Recreational activities include rock climbing, bike riding, fishing, hiking, kayaking, archery, surfing, ocean activities, etc. Incumbent must be able to lead and apply established rules and regulations in supervising participants in those activities. In addition, incumbent must be comfortable towing small equipment trailers to event sites. Always develops and ensures implementation of Operational Risk Management in accordance with Base Safety Program. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Advises groups on safety regulations, emergency procedures and proper use of equipment. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Ensures groups use proper safety precautions and corrects any unsafe actions. Promptly reports any injuries to their immediate supervisor. Regularly monitors a large amount of recreational equipment. Maintains accurate inventory and maintenance records of all equipment. Ensures adequate storage of all equipment to maximize life expectancy and minimize breakage. Responsible for safety, repairs and replacements of all items when necessary. Constantly provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Acknowledges customers, smiles and makes eye contact. Asks questions to determine, verify, and solve problems. Checks for satisfaction on the quality of goods and services. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts supervisor, or proper point of contact to assist when problems arise. Performs other related duties as assigned. FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Must be able to work within the given budget for specific events. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Purchase Card to make necessary purchases for program needs. May be responsible for facility cash handling. Maintains all financial records and provide supporting data for budget changes. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Supports all Warrior Athlete Readiness and Resilience (WARR) programming and services and Marine Corps Total Fitness (MCTF) strategy. Maintains confidentiality when collecting Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Restricts access to an individuals' private medical information (HIPPA). Engages in open lines of communication. WORKING CONDITIONS: Applicants must be able to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays, in various locations on and off base. In addition, applicants must be willing to work more than 8 hours in a day. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 451bs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Uses required safety equipment and observes safe work procedures. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor.
