Job Description:

THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST-TITLE 5, Position Description Number PDT5003000 and is part of the KY 123 AW, National Guard. Due to a lapse in appropriations, Federal Government operations will be delayed.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 1 year of specialized experience at the next lower grade (GS-11) or equivalent, formulating and implementing Information Protection (IP) functions and activities. Experience managing program plans, processes, and policies. Experience establishing and adjusting short- and long-term priorities. Experience demonstrating the ability to develop and apply metrics to assess program efficiency and effectiveness; anticipate and plan for changes in system designs, equipment, and mission requirements. Experience identifying program priorities, executing, and monitoring changes, and establishing review systems to ensure compliance with governmental information protection requirements. Experience developing guidance and procedures for risk-based assessments and reviews. Experience preparing and presenting written reports and briefings to senior leaders; and supporting Wing, MAJCOM, and Air Force priorities through effective resource planning. Experience integrating information protection requirements into operational, technical, and administrative programs, as well as monitor and protect Wing-specific programs. As a INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST-TITLE 5, GS-0080-12, you will serve as the Wing Information Protection Program Manager executing/enforcing all operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program. Formulate wing program goals, plans, policy implementation guidelines, procedures, and work plans dealing with the operation of security programs and activities. Research and interpret federal regulations for information security processes. Provide guidance, training, and direction to organizations/activities/units. Evaluate classification downgrading, declassification, and destruction programs. Oversee, direct, monitor, and conduct security surveys and Information Security Program Reviews to monitor and enforce DoD Information, Personnel, and Industrial Security Programs. Analyze complex information security problems, mission vulnerabilities, security impacts to mission assurance, and convergence difficulties, and provide solutions to ensure mission success. Make information protection risk assessments and risk management/mitigation strategies/recommendations based on intelligence-derived threat issues. Complexity of duties is amplified as precedents often do not exist, technological advancements constantly change, and events significantly change circumstances. Collect, assemble, analyze, and assess data and intelligence information. Collaborate with Security specialists and functions to provide Wing leadership a single protection view of risk avoidance and risk mitigation. Conduct Security Awareness and Education Programs to meet requirements. Oversee development of training for Top Secret Control Officers and Original Classification Authorities. Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities to include training, leave request, performance evaluations and other issues. Direct overarching focus and direction of the organization.
