About the Position: The Military Entrance Processing Station plays a vital role in maintaining the nation's military might by ensuring that each new member of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force & Coast Guard; meets the high mental, moral & medical standards required by the DoD & the military services. Every MEPS represents state of the art in testing, examining & processing applicants for enlistment into the Armed Forces. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Reviewing records for accuracy and completeness; Using automated systems to input and extract data; Providing training to staff on office processes and procedures; Leading a group or team to completion of a project. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). TYPING: This position requires a qualified typist with a typing proficiency of at least 40 words per minute (WPM) based on a 5 minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Customer Service Leadership Manages and Organizes Information Technical Competence Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). As a Supervisory Human Resources Assistant (Military/Office Automation), you will:
Supervise assigned personnel in the office.
Provide technical administrative support and oversight of the organization’s processing functions.
Coordinate between multiple sections to ensure processing is completed within standards.
Mange applicant files/records to include maintaining security of applicant PII and PHI
Provide technical administration and oversight of the processing element.
Make recommendations on initiatives to improve military processing functions.
Interview candidates to obtain and verify background information.
Provide training on various topics to groups and/or individuals,
Ensure updates/changes to regulations are communicated to subordinates.
Coordinate with others to ensure proper processing of applicants into military service.
