To be considered for the position, you must meet the following: Basic Requirements: Degree: Social work. Must fulfill all of the requirements for the master's degree in social work in a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. AND In addition to meeting the basic requirement, you must have: Education: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and must typically be in or related to the position to be filled. Some examples of this qualifying experience are: Experience in assessing the need for services to inmates/patients in a medical or psychiatric setting (e.g., evaluated patients as part of a multidisciplinary team and made recommendations for treatment, practiced holistic social work in a medical or psychiatric environment, versed on various treatment modalities for various disorders and/or utilized those practices in a professional environment). Experience in performing as an independent practitioner, working in a clinical environment, in which it was required to determine priority for services, gather information or have direct responsibility for solving problems (e.g., worked in a clinical setting treating either psychiatric disorders or medical patients, conducted social assessments, presented a written evaluation or documented information in a patients' medical record, and represented social work at treatment team meetings). Experience in serving in a supervisory capacity/director or coordinator of a specialized program. Experience in developing new policy or procedures for a specialized program/population, and/or has created new tools (e.g., assessments, tracking forms, etc.) for the enhancement of a treatment program. AND Selective Placement Factor: Applicants applying for this position MUST also possess the following Selective Factor. Applicant must possess a license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), License Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or equivalent unrestricted, independent, clinical license. Serves as a Supervisory Social Worker in a Health Services Department (HSD) of a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) federal correctional facility. In conjunction with, and under the guidance of, the Health Services Administrator (HSA), is responsible for the professional and administrative management of the social work services provided in the institution. Offers interpretation of social work practice and assists in the development and review of BOP’s social work policy; develops, recommends, and approves department training; establishes baseline data needs for updating program objectives; and develops and monitors performance improvement measures for social work practices. Monitors staff responsible for all clinical functions performed by the department, including discharge planning, reduction in sentence, group therapy, social work assessments and evaluation, treatment activities, and training. Assures the social workers supervised are aware of and adhere to all current directives of the BOP, meet current Joint Commission standards, state licensure standards, and BOP expectations. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staffs correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.
