This position is located in National Parks- East, in the Maintenance Program. The typical seasonal entry-on-duty period is December-April but can be variable during these months due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: End of December
Requirements Continued... Applicants must be at least (1)18 years old or (2) at least 16 years old and: (a) Have graduated from high school or been awarded a certificate equivalent to graduating from high school; or (b) Have completed a formal vocational training program; or (c) Have received a statement from school authorities agreeing with their preference for employment rather than continuing their education; or (d) Be currently enrolled in a secondary school and either work only during school vacation periods or work part-time during the school year under a formal student employment program. You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required. You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record. You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you. This includes ability to work for extended periods outdoors in all weather conditions, ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb and lift and move heavy items (in excess of 50#) to chest level. The major of the Maintenance Woker includes, but are not limited to, the following: Performs simple and routine maintenance of grounds, exterior structures, buildings, trails and equipment and related facilities, including snow removal Performs simple carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical repairs Safely operates various groundskeeping equipment including mowers, string trimmer, hedge trimmers, pole saws, hand tools etc. Picks up trash, refuse and clears dumping sites as needed Performs daily animal care duties including feeding, watering, manure removal, cleaning of enclosures, grooming (OXHI farm site only)
