Job Description:

Under the direct supervision of the Laundry Operations Specialist, the incumbent is responsible for the efficient operation of the Linen/Uniform Distribution areas; including processing of patient linens, patient personal clothing, Government owned uniforms, and articles for Food and Nutrition and Canteen Services.

Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Major Duties Communicates safety procedures in a clear and concise manner to achieve desired results while interacting with employees as well as representatives of other organizations Assists EMS management in developing laundry policies Manages and participates in linen and laundry surveys and inventories. Performs web-based mandatory training and maintains personal time and attendance electronically. Assists managers with gathering of information for recurring and non-recurring reports. Coordinates the day to day activities of laundry staff. Skills in receiving linen orders, recording, and filling of linen orders. Incumbent must know simple mathematics and have skills in receiving linen orders, recording, and filling of linen orders. Informs manager on status and progress of work and anticipated problems meeting deadlines. Documents workloads, changes in resources, responses to customer inquiries, and subordinate performance behavior. Creates and issues performance appraisals to front line staff and performs all service level HR functions. Ability to resolve and coordinate activities that cross department lines to include or involve other services. Performs supervisor duties without direct supervision. Determines manpower need for daily assignments and special tasks. Ability to manage laundry operations. Ability to manage the stocking needs of the service at all sites as it pertains to laundry.
