This position is part of the Agency Support Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington, District of Columbia.
To qualify for the Stationary Engineer, you must meet the following requirements: Applicants must meet the following Screen-Out element, to be considered for this position. Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which appears as question 2 in the online questionnaire. If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT ELEMENT below is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration. The screen-out element for this position is: Knowledge and ability at the journeyman level, in the operation and understanding of a chiller plant and its auxiliary equipment, accompanied with Universal Chlorofluorocarbons (CFC) certificates. Knowledge and ability in the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of HVAC systems to include pneumatic control valves, equipment at journeyman level with minor supervision, AND Knowledge in high voltage switching operations/electrical switch gears. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement to be considered.
Operate 13,200 volt A.C. switch-gear for ten secondary switchboards and related feeders and transformers.
Operate, service, clean and make adjustments for stationary industrial systems equipment.
Install, design, and service pneumatic and/or electric control systems for ventilating, heating, and cooling.
Clean and make repairs to batteries, cables, and charging connectors.
