To qualify for a Data Scientist (Supply Chain Risk Management), your resume and supporting documentation must support: A. Degree: Mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science or field directly related to the position. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. Or Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study (30 semester hours) as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience. B. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position. In addition to meeting the Basic Requirement above, to qualify for the GS-14 grade level, specialized experience must be at the GS-13 grade level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut off/ closing date of the announcement. Creditable specialized experience includes: Demonstrate the ability to use approved Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and scientific methods to identify, predict, and assess supply chains and associated risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigations. Apply scientific methods, to include, but are not limited to, regression, decision tree analytics, probability and game theory, and statistical analysis to research and improve supply chain risk assessment processes. Transform existing or develop new methods of computation and analysis to improve application methodologies and strategies for existing and new concepts. Make recommendations for future actions to improve precision in the Agency's Supply Chain when using analytical results, data utilization and decision-making capabilities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Serves as the Data Scientist (Supply Chain Risk Management) in the J3 Logistics Operations area and is assigned to Mission Assurance Division encompassing Supply Chain Security and Supply Chain Risk Management.
Analyzes and improves the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) supply chains to support the Department of Defense and other agencies and Departments through identifying risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigations.
Uses approved Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) and scientific methods to identify, predict, and assess supply chains and associated risks, vulnerabilities, and mitigations.
Conducts risk and predictive analysis, computer simulation, program/project planning and controls, including developing internal/external dashboards utilizing data visualization and methods to DLA, the DoD, and other governmental agencies/programs.
Oversees the development of analytical data to assist in the development of functional performance measures that effectively reflect the agency's national program performance.
Recommends future actions to improve precision in analytical results, data utilization and decision-making capabilities to the Agency’s Supply Chain.
