Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of the Commissioner, Privacy, FOIA, and EEO (PFE), Located in one of the following locations: Washington, DC Chicago, IL Albuquerque, NM Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: Facilitating the editorial process centered on document management, deadlines, content management, and workflow and approval processes related to privacy compliance documentation or privacy incident management; Leading efforts to ensure that sound privacy and information sharing safeguards and policies are in place, that critical privacy issues are addressed, and that business processes comply with relevant legal requirements; Maintaining, coordinating, and further developing the operational process for privacy compliance documentation or privacy incident management, with supervisor review; Ensuring that business processes and information sharing arrangements reflect sound privacy policies and practices that incorporate robust safeguards; Initiating the investigatory process for privacy incidents, managing the intake and document management for alleged and confirmed privacy incidents, with supervisor review. The Privacy Division is responsible for ensuring compliance with Federal privacy laws, regulations, and guidance, to ensure that CBP collects, maintains, uses, and disseminates personally identifiable information in a manner consistent with law. This Privacy Analyst position will report directly to a Supervisory Government Information Specialist. This position starts at a salary of $105,383.00 (GS-13, Step 1) to $137,000.00 (GS-13, Step 10) with promotion potential to $161,889 (GS-14 Step 10). Typical Work assignments include: Serving as a technical expert in privacy laws and policies, leading efforts to establish and maintain robust privacy and information sharing safeguards, ensuring business processes comply with legal requirements, and recommending appropriate privacy policies for CBP programs; Evaluating the effectiveness of personal information handling and investigating privacy issues and recommending security measures for data systems; Communicating official CBP privacy policies, assessing compliance with federal privacy laws, and implementing necessary corrective, remedial, and preventive actions, including ensuring Privacy Act requirements are met and collaborating with various stakeholders to address privacy concerns and identify vulnerabilities; Monitoring compliance with privacy laws, implementing corrective actions along with overseeing privacy training, ensuring privacy strategies align with information systems and operations.
