You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. OPM Qualifications Standards are available at Legal Instrument Examining Series 0963 Specialized Experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-06. Specialized experience for this position includes: 1. Experience examining legal documents such as applications, petitions, notices and other similar materials for compliance with legal requirements, regulatory and administrative procedures. 2. Experience utilizing knowledge of rules, procedures and processing stages for examination of assigned type of legal instrument in order to determine compliance with legal criteria and administrative rules and provide information and assistance on administrative requirements. 3. Experience independently performing complete examining functions and carries out the successive steps and handles problems and deviations in the work assignment in accordance with instructions, policies, previous training, or accepted work practices. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. This position is located in the Records Program Office, Public Records Division which provides overall support and coordination for enterprise systems that facilitate information sharing within the agency and with the public. The individual selected for this position will… Examines legal documents including applications, petitions or notices along with supporting material for completeness, and compliance with an extensive body of regulations and procedures. Performs review requiring interpretation to determine compliance with legal criteria. Identifies deficiencies in submissions sufficient to request additional information and identify remedial action required, timeframes, and fees for actions required. This position is NOT Telework eligible. You are required to report to USPTO Alexandria Campus for all days of the work week.
