The primary purpose of this position is: To plan, implement, administer, and counsel units and their leadership on individual, family,community issues including but not limited to career assistance, transition, relocation, family, and other work/life service and activities provided to military members, retirees, Department of Defense civilian members, and their families.
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0101, Social Science Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience include: knowledge of and experience in applying concepts, principles and theories relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science field and social services delivery systems to analyze and interpret complete social/behavioral data concerning the client and assess factors of personality structure and dynamics as they affect findings of aptitudes and interests. Skill in interviewing and counseling to enable clients to receive, assimilate, and make realistic career, transition and relocations choices and to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans and determine appropriate referral service/options. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interacting with vocational rehabilitation specialists, faculty of educational institutions, employers, and programs support representatives to further the client 's career transition program. Skill in working with social service delivery systems in local community and gaining knowledge of individuals agencies' policies and procedures and establishing agreements. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least three (3) years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree in a major directly related to the position of Violence Prevention Integrator. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts with your application. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: A combination of specialized experience and education as described above. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-inĀ­-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of social services delivery systems as well as a wide range of concepts, principles, theories, and practices relating to one or more of the social or behavioral science fields. Skill in conducting interviews to establish the nature and extent of concerns/issues, provide assistance in developing goals and plans, and determine appropriate referral services/options when frequently there is difficulty in determining clients' needs or wants or in convincing them to accept that problems exist. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships using tact and diplomacy in interactions with individuals/families, leadership of organizations, and with program representatives and officials. Ability to assess and measure organizations' trends, concerns, and needs; assist in identifying and prioritizing goals; and provide guidance and direction for the development and implementation of effective plans and tools to address such issues. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS PRETAINING TO THIS POSITION: This position is emergency-essential (E-E). The incumbent of this position must meet all requirements of E-E positions and may be required as a condition of employment to take a series of vaccinations and annual boosters to immunize against anthrax and other diseases. During a crisis the incumbent or designated alternate must continue to perform the E-E duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an E-E position and requires that the incumbent or the designated alternate be removed from any recall status. A pre-employment physical examination is required. Selectee must meet requirements specified on SF 78, Certificate of Medical Examination for employment at overseas/deployed locations due to the following. The duties of this position require moderate physical exertion involving walking and standing, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints is required. Arms, hands, legs, and feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer, must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 HZ levels. Since the duties of these positions are exacting and responsible and involve activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or others is disqualifying. The theater commander may specify theater unique medical/physical deployability criteria. Emergency Essential/deployment related medical/dental/psychological examinations and required immunizations are at no expense to the employees. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
DUTY 1: Assesses needs and provides continuing work/life services to leadership, organizations, and serviced populations within assigned units and in the A&FRC. DUTY 2: Develops, implements, and manages installation work/life services programs, establishing goals, objectives, and procedures in accordance with applicable state, Air Force, and other federal guidance, regulations, and laws. DUTY 3: Consults with on- and off-site community leadership officials on work/life and related issues. Influences key organizational staff and organized groups within/outside the installation. DUTY 4: Designs and establishes marketing and public relations strategies to ensure target populations are informed of services and activities. DUTY 5: Participates in wartime and contingency operations; deploys to contingency locations on a rotational basis.
