About the Position: This position is located at Raymond W. Bliss Army Community Hospital in Fort Huachuca, AZ. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service.

Basic Requirements for an Industrial Hygiene Technician are : Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes inspecting work areas, preparing reports, and maintaining industrial hygiene equipment. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree with a major study in Environmental Science, or related fields such as Engineering, Industrial Hygiene or Health & Safety. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total semester hours minus 18) by 9. Add the two percentages.
Independently inspect work areas; conduct surveys; analyze findings; prepare reports; maintain industrial hygiene (IH) equipment; and assist with worker education training.
Perform sampling using standard methods to establish the nature and degree of hazards, and industrial products.
Make recommendations on control measure and changes in work procedures or schedules to comply with established standards.
Conduct surveys and investigations of work operations, identifying and evaluating conditions which may be hazardous to the health or workers.
Perform respirator fit testing per appropriate standards and guidelines.
Provide worker training on respirator selection, usage, care; and sanitation practices; and chemical health hazards in the work place as required.
