Job Description:
This vacancy is for a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist in the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) within the Department of Commerce. In this position, you will serve as a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist coordinating, overseeing, and tracking all activities for BIS across the following areas: IT operations, technology solutions, and cybersecurity.

To qualify at the GS-15 level: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This experience need not have been in the federal government. You must possess one full year (52 weeks) of IT- related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal service or non- federal equivalent. Specialized experience is defined as: Managing IT based projects and services Managing and implementing IT applications and data solutions to include export enforcement case management systems, data collection platforms and business applications Managing and implementing critical infrastructure programs Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious; spiritual; community, student, social). As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, you will perform the following duties: Supports the Chief Information Officer (CIO) in overseeing the IT programs, special projects, policies, services, and resources necessary to support the mission and operations of BIS; and serves as a technical expert and consultant to management officials to advise on integrating IT programs with other programs of equivalent scope and complexity. Uses knowledge of complex IT principles, policies, and procedures to successfully deliver mission and administrative IT services that meet business requirements, including those provided on National Security Systems. Provides knowledge and recommendations on developing, delivering, and supporting IT systems and services. Analyzes, and communicates sound and authoritative recommendations on, highly complex and sensitive IT issues/policies Support the CIO in maintenance of a proactive vision, strategy, and enterprise roadmap for the OCIO consistent with BIS' Strategic plan.
